While popular TV shows such as Designated Survivor, Black-ish, The Black List and Once Upon a Time got their anticipated renewals yesterday, dozens more TV shows got the axe. While some were expected, there were a few on the bubble that survived even the most ardent TV watcher.

Fox cancelled Sleepy Hollow after four years, which is a bit of a surprise, after all the series started out strong in its first season. Last season however the number fell sharply, as the once loyal viewers stopped watching. The network also cancelled police procedural drama Rosewood after just two season, and the live-action/CGI hybrid series Son of Zorn starring Jason Sudeikis after just a season. Other new shows cancelled by Fox include Pitch, Making History and APB.

After six years, ABC finally cancelled Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing. We’re shocked it lasted this long. The spring series Time After Time failed to make a connection with an audience, and was cancelled after just five episodes. Hayley Atwell’s series Conviction also saw the axe fall after just one season. It is surprising that ABC also cancelled American Crime, after it did so well at the Emmy Awards recently. It lasted just three seasons, and saw its ratings drop constantly. Mireille Enos’ Shondaland series The Catch also failed to find an audience, and was canceled after two seasons. ABc also cancelled sitcoms Dr. Ken, The Real O’Neals and Imaginary Mary. 

None of the mid-season replacements on NBC made the cut this year, as Emerald City and Powerless were both canceled. Powerless wasn’t a bad show either, but people just weren’t tuning it. Timeless was much hyped when it was launched at the start of the the TV year, but it too was cancelled after just one season. 

The CW seems to have a lot of success with their superhero shows, but have a hard time finding other programming that works for their audience. This year Frequency and No Tomorrow were both cancelled. 

While over at CBS, there was no doubt that Doubt was going to be cancelled. You can add that to the long line of failures attached to Katherine Heigl’s name. The actress has had a hard time getting her footing after jumping to the big screen in Knocked Up. Ever since then it’s been one disaster after another. The network also canceled the medical drama Pure Genius.
