Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon are teaming up for the first time since appearing together on Friends in 2000, and it’s not for the big screen. The duo will appear in a new TV series.
While the series has yet to be named, Variety is reporting that the series will focus on a New York morning show, and will be written by House of Cards producer Jay Carson. Witherspoon and Aniston will also be executive producers on the show. There is no network attached to the series at this point either, but it will be shopped to them, as well as to streaming services, shortly.
In Friends, Witherspoon played Aniston’s sister in two episodes. Rumor had it that it was originally supposed to be a longer guest appearance, but that there was on-set tension between the pair so it was cut short. It will be interesting to see how they get along after so many years apart.
This will be Aniston’s first TV series regular role since Friends went off the air in 2004. Witherspoon on the other hand appeared on the HBO drama Big Little Lies earlier this year and earned an Emmy nomination for it.
