When Katy Perry released her new album Witness back in June one song that immediately stood out was Swish Swish. The song, which lyrically sounds like it is about getting over haters, is rumored to be about the feud between Perry and Taylor Swift. People have suggested that perhaps it’s a diss track aimed at Swift and more specifically her 2014 hit Bad Blood. But when Perry was asked directly by Jimmy Fallon if the song was about “anyone we know” Perry replied with “I think it’s a great anthem for people to use whenever someone’s trying to hold you down or bully you.” While Perry hasn’t been forthcoming on whether the track is about Swift or not, it’s ready to get the video treatment, and perhaps we’ll get more answers then.
Perry took to Twitter yesterday to show the short teaser of the video. Before any footage is seen, the video is labelled as the “hottest mess in history”. In the tweet itself Perry called it the “COUNTDOWN TO CATASTROPHE”. The video takes place on a basketball court, with two teams facing each other. The video stars Molly Shannon, Strangers Things’ Gaten Matarazzo, Terry Crews, and Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson a.k.a. The Mountain from Game of Thrones, and promises many more surprises. One of those surprises will be Nicki Minaj who does appears on the track, but who else will pop up is unknown at this time.
The full video for Swish Swish will premiere this week, but when exactly is unknown at this time.
