Get ready for more big hair, 80s’ music and retro women’s wrestling, as streaming giant Netflix has renewed their hit comedy GLOW for a second season.
GLOW premiered in late June on Netflix, and starred Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, and Marc Maron. The 10 episode comedy series takes place in 1985, and follows the story of a struggling actress (Alison Brie) who happens upon the world of women’s wrestling while looking for a new job. The fictional series is created and directed by a B-Movie (maybe even C-Movie) director played by Marc Maron. While the series is based around an actual 80s’ women’s wrestling program, (also called GLOW which stands for the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) the series is completely fictional.
GLOW became a huge hit for Netflix, so the renewal doesn’t come as a surprise. While many people may have been turned away due to the central plot of women’s wrestling, the soundtrack and comedic storyline brought them in.
At this time there is no word on when season 2 will premiere, but it will consist of 10 episodes as well.
